Apple Strudel
This recipe blew my mind—thin dough, baked apples, a bit of sugar… honestly, the perfect dessert!🤌🏼
Recipe:
❂ Ingredients:
250g. all purpose flour
100 ml water
1 egg
20g. Oh vegetable oil
1 pinch of salt
For the filling:
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
Lemon juice
100g. dried cranberries
100g. breadcrumbs
50g. butter (melted, for brushing the dough and sautéing the breadcrumbs)
50g. Candied pecans, chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
70g. sugar
1 scoop of Ice Cream
❂ Cooking Process:
Dough:
- Prepare the dough: Mix the flour, water, egg, oil, and salt together until smooth. Knead it on a floured surface until elastic (about 10-15 minutes). Shape into a ball, cover with a cloth, and let it rest for 1 hour.
- Stretch the dough: After resting, roll out the dough as thin as possible on a large cloth or floured surface. Use your hands to carefully stretch it even thinner, almost transparent. The dough should be elastic and shouldn’t tear easily.
Filling:
- Prepare the filling: Sauté the breadcrumbs in a bit of melted butter until golden and fragrant. Let them cool.
- Assemble: Drizzle the sliced apples with lemon juice to keep them from browning. Mix breadcrumbs, sliced apples, cranberries, chopped pecans and cinnamon. Lightly brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter. Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle sugar on top.
- Roll it up: Using the cloth to help, gently roll up the dough with the filling. Transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Brush the strudel with melted butter and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Serve: Let it cool slightly before slicing. You can dust with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanila or dulce de leche ice cream
P.S: If you think handling this dough is tough, let me tell you—it’s a breeze and actually pretty fun! Just give it a try!
